Chicago's Oriental Theatre in 1964

Corner of Dearborn and Randolph in 1964

A 1964 photo taken at the corner of Dearborn and Randolph looking east, posted on Flickr by Joe and Jeanette Archie. "The Prize," the movie playing at the Oriental Theatre, was released on Christmas Day in 1963.

The Oriental is still operating, but the movie theater on the right is long gone, as the entire block was demolished in 1989 and is now the site of the Block 37 office tower and shopping mall. This post from WTTW has a now-and-then view of the same corner.

View from the Field Museum in the Early 1960s

Grant Park from the Field Museum

Looking north from the Field Museum in the early 1960s, posted on Flickr by Mark Susina. It wasn't until 1996 that the northbound lanes were reconfigured, moving them west of Soldier Field and the Field Museum.
